Accepted Approaches for GPs to Move Teeth Naturally

Credits: 1.5
Cost: Free
Time: 8:00 PM ET

Slow continued tooth movement is one of dentistry’s biggest blind-spots. The long term aesthetic and functional effect of this can be devastating but also can be treated simply and early. This seminar will show how carrying out simple planned orthodontics can provide safe aesthetic and functional dentistry which is accessible to many more patients. It will cover the principles of the alignment, bleach, bonding concept creating simpler safer and more affordable realistic options for many more patients and which can be carried out by any dentist.

Aims and Objectives

  • To understand the effect of dental tectonics
  • To highlight the planning protocols of simple occlusion- driven anterior alignment methodology using digital arch evaluation and 3d printing
  • To consider the protection of guidance and the long term function via planning and retention methodology.
  • To outline the use of edge bonding as a viable non-invasive aesthetic and functional tool for cosmetic dentistry and occlusal treatment via the Dahl principle.
  • To understand how align bleach and bond can totally change the way we approach all cases not just cosmetic ones.

Anticipated outcomes:

  • Participants will understand how case planning and appropriate treatment can help all dentists carry out simple anterior treatments that not only have aesthetic but clear and long term functional benefits.
  • They will see how cosmetic dentistry can actually be far more functionally driven and this applies to vastly more patients than traditionally believed.
  • They will understand how safe and systematic driven approach to restoratively focused orthodontics can provide results that are achievable and last for years.

Root Resorption: An overview of the most common presentations and treatment strategies

Credits: 1.5
Cost: Free
Time: 8:00 PM ET

In speaking with my colleagues and addressing what situations are increasingly seen in my office and theirs, at the top of the list is root resorption. Root resorption has many different presentations with even more treatment options and prognoses. This webinar will provide the clinician with a concise strategy for identification, treatment, and most importantly prognostic conversations with our patients.

Whether you have been practicing for 5 or 25 years, the increase in the number of resorption cases seen in our offices is truly undeniable. We have to be prepared to address short term and long term treatment concerns. Most often the patient presents completely asymptomatic. This leaves the patient and the clinician dumbfounded when it is finally discovered. If this is a long term patient, the conversation can be even more uncomfortable. Also if you’ve been unlucky enough to begin excavation of a “carious” lesion and then suddenly have what appears to be a very shallow “pulp exposure” this webinar is for you. If this has never happened to you then consider yourself lucky and watch this webinar to get avoid getting into this situation.

Course Objectives

– Overview of the different types and presentations of root resorption

– Clinical and radiographic methods for proper classification

– Treatment options and prognosis of root resorption

– Discussing and problem solving resorption with patients

Advanced imaging modalities and a shift in treatment recommendations have left most providers in the dark. Knowing how to identify and classify resorption is paramount in treating (or not treating) these lesions. Attending this webinar will ensure you are prepared for the next time you are dealing with root resorption…trust me it’ll be sooner than you think!

2018 ADA Policies and Recommendation on Substance Abuse Disorder

Credits: 1.5
Cost: Free
Time: 8:00 PM ET

On March 26, 2018, the American Dental Association (ADA) announced a new policy on opioids supporting mandates on prescription limits and requiring all dentists take continuing education to maintain a license to practice. Inherent in the 2018 resolutions is the encouragement to minimize the use of opioids. In dentistry, pain control would revolve around optimal use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and acetaminophen. However, there are still circumstances where opioids are believed to be necessary.

This session is designed to use case examples to help illustrate the appropriate way of managing opioid prescription in order to minimize abuse.

Learning Objectives:

This will provide 1.5 credit hours that will satisfy the new requirements by addressing the following issues:

  1. Prescribing Controlled Substances
  2. Understanding Amount of Opioids Prescribed (Morphine Milligram Equivalent MME)
  3. Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP)

The course will describe in detail how this was achieved, how they joined to support each other in an ultimate team to raise over £1million for charity.

The course will also enable individuals to understand what it takes to build a great team through different techniques and give them the skills to establish a common purpose that a team can unite behind. Whilst some leadership styles favour an aggressive approach to managing team situations, it will be identified how ‘leading from the back’ is not only an effective team building tactic, it also promotes cohesion and bonding. Overall, the type of leader can impact on the ability to ensure a successful team environment. Allowing for personal development and key techniques to improve and individual’s ability to be a great leader.

Learning Objectives

  1. Uniting behind a common purpose
  2. Leading from the back
  3. How to build a team
  4. How to transform from rugged individual to team leader

A new patient to your office describes intermittent tooth pain of several years duration. She has a fairly unremarkable dental history but has been noting increasing pain to biting that’s become a constant nuisance for her. Her prior dentist has tried several restorations and adjustments to no avail. She comes to you hoping you can fix her problem after completely losing faith in her previous provider’s abilities. This is presentation is a common occurrence for most practitioners and immediately our radars and red flags are going crazy. After this webinar you will have a precise and systematic approach to win over this patient and immediately start addressing her concerns.

Implant Treatment Planning: Increasing Predictability with 3-Dimensional Technology

Credits: 1.5
Cost: Free
Time: 8:00 PM ET

This webinar will present dental implant treatment planning and case acceptance with a systematic diagnostic and treatment approach based on accurate three-dimensional planning combine with a restorative-driven plan.

The digital workflow for implant diagnostics can be simplified today with digitized initial impressions prior to extractions and with simple digital wax-ups to determine the tooth location.  Therefore, the amount and location of necessary bone can be planned precisely.  Modern approaches to bone preservation and augmentation with growth factors allow for minimally invasive treatment.  Surgical guides allow for utilization of the digital plan.

This lecture will provide:

  1. An overview of the diagnostic and surgical digital workflow
  2. Present guidelines for implant treatment planning
  3. Review modern minimally invasive surgical techniques

Innovations for Minimally Invasive Esthetic Implant Surgery

Credits: 1.5
Cost: Free
Time: 8:00 PM ET

This presentation will provide a clinical update on minimally invasive approaches for Esthetic Implant Site Development. The utilization of recombinantly engineered platelet-derived growth factor-BB (rhPDGF-BB) has accelerated the trend toward minimally invasive surgical procedures to preserve and enhance the esthetic foundation for dental implant supported restorations. This program will present guidelines for incremental levels of flap elevation from flapless to open procedures for implant site development. The use of growth factors has increased the ability for optimal hard and soft tissue regeneration with less invasive techniques. This course will provide a decision matrix for how to manage extraction site defects including whether to raise a flap and how to sequence soft tissue grafting.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
1. Applying tissue engineering to clinical decision-making achieves optimal biologic and esthetic results for challenging dental implant cases.
2. Techniques utilizing rhPDGF-BB for combined hard and soft tissue grafting will be presented.
3. The use of technology can ease the treatment process for patients and improve the predictability for biologic and esthetic longevity.
