Part 2: 2018 ADA Policies and Recommendation on Substance Abuse Disorder

On March 26, 2018, the American Dental Association (ADA) announced a new policy on opioids supporting mandates on prescription limits and requiring all dentists take continuing education to maintain a license to practice. Inherent in the 2018 resolutions is the encouragement to minimize the use of opioids. In dentistry, pain control would revolve around optimal use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and acetaminophen.
